This week, I’m throwing back to this past September, where I picked up the art of hand lettering at the Laura Hooper Calligraphy workshop at Smudge Designs Studio. After working all summer in a serious research job, I knew I needed a creativity boost stat. I saw an Instagram post from Laura saying her first Canadian workshop was going to be in Toronto, and it was total fate. I signed up as soon as I could and counted down the days!
The second I walked into Smudge Designs, I was literally floored. The space was a blogger’s dream – mimosas, heart shaped macarons, gold foiled napkins, you name it! As a floral fanatic, I was most impressed by the pink, coral, and white blooms displayed in the cutest little gold vases.
The workshop was featured on Style Me Pretty (photos taken from this post – please check out the original posting) check out the professional photography & review there. I would totally recommend taking a calligraphy workshop, especially from Laura Hooper if you have the opportunity. The skill has completely transformed my approach on everything DIY, and I am obsessed with throwing in hand lettered details where ever I can. There really is no better feeling than learning a new skill! I have a long way to go, but calligraphy is definitely a hobby I can see myself practicing for a very long time.
